Teaching dance, acting and singing is our passion! We feel very privileged teaching our LWD children and giving them the opportunity to learn and express themselves through the Arts. We offer a varied timetable (available from Miss Louise) of classes every Friday and Saturday, term time only at The Centre Mawsley. There are exam and performance opportunities with our yearly LWD showcases.
NATD Modern Dance
We offer a more structured dance class that offers children the chance to learn a technique and work through a syllabus and achieve grades.
This NATD Modern Dance comprehensive syllabus provides a sound basis for students to develop the strength, style and presentational skills necessary to the dancer.
A graded syllabus enables children to begin training at an early age with class examination and then progress through the grades up to grade 5 standard. Having completed the graded syllabi the student can move on to the more demanding vocational grades which could lead to performance on the professional stage or to teach.
A healthy mix of set work and teacher’s arrangements provides the content throughout, allowing the teacher freedom to explore the many different styles of modern dance, whilst adhering to the technical requirements of the categories with complete freedom in the dance arrangements.
Within the gradual development through the grades students can work for medal tests which focus on presentation, style and fun and for our little ones, Juvenile/Junior Medals and Rainbow awards.
Whether a hobby or a pathway to a career the NATD (National Association of Teachers of Dancing) comprehensive modern stage syllabi will give enjoyment, knowledge and fitness to all students. We are pleased to say that since we introduced Modern exams in 2018, all of our students have passed with Distinction, the highest attainment.
We facilitate a happy and fun environment for children to enjoy dance and express themselves. As a parent I acknowledge the importance of you knowing what activities your child engages in. Parents are always invited to our ‘Watching Week’ at the end of term and are welcome to stay for the first session.
For all classes parents are expected to drop off and collect. Please speak with me for our uniform requirements.
We look forward to meeting you and having the pleasure of teaching your child.
